Professor Robert Shorten

Professor Robert Shorten is a professor of Control Engineering and Decision Science at University College Dublin. He is active in the areas of Stability Theory, Hybrid Dynamical Systems, Congestion Management, Smart Mobility and Sharing Economy

The Tangle is a very interesting mathematical object, bringing together ideas from graph theory, probability, dynamics and control, as well as game theory. I am looking forward to helping the Research Council to guide some of the fundamental and applied research on this topic.

Bill Buchanan

Professor Bill Buchanan

Professor Bill Buchanan is a Professor in the School of Computing at Edinburgh Napier University, a Fellow of the BCS, and a Principal Fellow of the HEA. He was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 2017 Birthday Honours for services to cybersecurity.

Being involved in a research council leadership role in IOTA will provide me with the opportunity to inform the future, making decisions which will help build a solid foundation for our next generation.

Serguei Popov

Professor Serguei Popov

Professor Serguei Popov is a research mathematician working in the field of Probability Theory and Stochastic Processes, and is also on the Board of Directors at the IOTA Foundation.

It has been a great thrill working closely with the growing team at IOTA, particularly the strong research and engineering departments.

Mauro Conti

Professor Mauro Conti

Professor Mauro Conti is professor of Computer Science at University of Padova, Italy, where serves as head of the SPRITZ Security and Privacy Research Group and head of studies for the Cybersecurity Degree. He is an EU Marie Curie Fellow, DAAD Fellow and senior member of IEEE and ACM. He is also a member of the Italian government's Blockchain Expert Panel.

I am happy to take on this advisory role as a way to offer my expertise to the IOTA Foundation. I hope that my participation in the IOTA Research Council helps ensure the highest academic standards are applied to all of the research activities of the IOTA Foundation.
